Top five opposing wide receivers on Florida Gators 2024 schedule (2024)

A look at who I believe are the top-five wide receivers on Florida's 2024 schedule

Graham Hall

With the offseason in full swing, I'm once again taking a crack at ranking the top-5 players at each position the Gators will face on the 2024 schedule. The list continues with who I believe are the top-five wide receivers UF will face:

No. 5: CJ Daniels, LSU

Top five opposing wide receivers on Florida Gators 2024 schedule (2)

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight:200 pounds

Year:Graduate transfer

247Sports Ranking: No. 2,450 overall, No. 321-ranked wide receiver in the class of 2020 in 247Sports' Composite Rankings

2023 Statistics:1,067 receiving yards on 55 receptions, 10 TDs

Overview:Having lost its two top receivers from the 2023 season, LSU identified CJ Daniels as an ideal replacement to fill the void. Daniels was incredibly productive last season at Liberty, hauling in more than 1,000 receiving yards as the Flames' go-to target, and he'll have plenty of opportunities to lead the way now in the SEC.

He'll have to prove he's able to maintain a high level of play in the nation's toughest conference, yet there's no question Daniels has enormous potential after a breakout senior season.

The Tigers' system should allow for Daniels to produce at a high rate, and he'll have talent alongside him to shoulder the burden in Kyren Lacy and tight end Mason Taylor. While he was still looking to solidify a primary role for himself throughout spring camp, I expect him to emerge as a starter and command a significant number of targets this upcoming season.

Look for Daniels to be a consistent target throughout his lone campaign in the SEC.

No. 4: Isaiah Bond, Texas

Height:5-foot-11

Weight:180 pounds

Year:Junior

247Sports Ranking:No. 52 overall, No. 2-ranked athlete in the class of 2022 in 247Sports' Composite Rankings

2023 Statistics:668 receiving yards on 48 receptions, 4 TDs

Overview:After beginning his career at Alabama, Bond opted to transfer to Texas, a decision motivated entirely by former head coach Nick Saban's retirement.

Now looking to produce in an explosive offense led by Quinn Ewers, Bond should be one of the SEC's top playmakers on a team motivated to make a statement during its first in the conference. He led all Crimson Tide pass-catchers in receptions in 2023, and he should take a step forward during his junior season at the collegiate level.

The Longhorns needed to replace all of their top targets from last season, and Bond should step in and immediately be a top-tier wideout, as he was last season in Tuscaloosa.

He's versatile, with the ability to play out wide and in the slot, which should only provide him with increased opportunities to see the field for the Longhorns in 2024.

My not-so-bold prediction is he'll threaten to record a 1,000-receiving yard season in 2024.

No. 3: Tre Harris, Ole Miss

Height:6-foot-2

Weight:205 pounds

Year:Junior

247Sports Ranking:No. 2,258 overall, No. 176-ranked athlete in the class of 2020 in 247Sports' Composite Rankings

2023 Statistics:985 receiving yards on 54 receptions, 8 TDs

Overview:Tre Harris should be one of the SEC's most productive wideouts this season as Ole Miss looks to contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff. While he was hindered by injury last season, Harris still managed to produce at a high rate in 2023.

He should once again be the primary target for the Rebels this season, despite the return of tight end Caden Prieskorn, and it wouldn't be out of the question to see him threaten to record a 1,000-receiving yard season in Oxford. When the Rebels travel to Gainesville for the final conference game of the regular season, Harris should be the top focus for the Gators' secondary, with Prieskorn being a close second.

Though, Ole Miss did make a valuable addition to the wideout group during the offseason, securing transfer Antwane "Juice" Wells from South Carolina, which in theory may decrease Harris's opportunities.

I don't think that will be the case, however, and I expect him to be one of the league's best when the 2024 campaign is in the books.

No. 2: Xavier Restrepo, Miami

Top five opposing wide receivers on Florida Gators 2024 schedule (5)

Height:5-foot-10

Weight:198 pounds

Year:5th-year senior

247Sports Ranking: No. 623 overall, No. 36-ranked athlete in the class of 2020 in 247Sports' Composite Rankings

2023 Statistics:1,092 receiving yards on 85 receptions, 6 TDs

Overview:It wasn't too long ago that Xavier Restrepo was turning heads at Florida's largest annual recruiting showcase, Friday Night Lights.

Now in his fifth season at Miami, Restrepo has continually validated the positive reception he received years ago in Gainesville, and he should be the Hurricanes' go-to target once again after amassing more than 1,000 receiving yards last season in Coral Gables.

He's arguably the ACC's best wideout, as evidenced by his 87.6 receiving grade from a season ago according to Pro Football Focus. The arrival of Cam Ward should provide Restrepo additional opportunities to contribute this season, making him one of the nation's more potent pass-catchers heading into his fifth and final season at the collegiate level.

Miami's passing offense sat just outside the top-40 last season, and the expectation is the presence of Ward should allow the 'Canes to improve in that regard in 2024.

If it does, Restrepo could be in for yet another 1,000-receiving yard season.

No. 1: Dominic Lovett, Georgia

Top five opposing wide receivers on Florida Gators 2024 schedule (6)

Height:5-foot-10

Weight:179 pounds

Year:Senior

247Sports Ranking: No. 331 overall, No. 52-ranked wide receiver prospect in the class of 2021 in 247Sports' Composite Rankings

2023 Statistics:613 receiving yards on 54 receptions, 4 TDs

Overview:The former transfer from Missouri is poised to have a breakout season with the Bulldogs this year.

In need of replacing multiple pass-catchers from last season, including standout tight end Brock Bowers and wide receivers Ladd McConkey, the 'Dawgs will look to Lovett to lead their pass-heavy offense this season, and he should be up for the task.

His rapport with quarterback Carson Beck only increased throughout the spring, and he should be the top wide receiver for the SEC's best passing offense this season.

In 2022, his second season with the Tigers, Lovett flirted with a 1,000-receiving yard season – I expect him to finally exceed the mark this season as he asserts himself as one of the nation's best pass-catchers.
