Killed in Action Memorial in Bethlehem-Monday, May 27

Join us this year on Memorial Day as the Bethlehem Detachment of the Marine Corps League conducts a Memorial Ceremony at the Killed-in-Action Memorial located at 10 E. Church St., Bethlehem just in front of Bethlehem City Hall.

This event features prayer, music, a reading of the names of the 35 men whose names are inscribed on the memorial, and a short oration by a Bethlehem veteran.

The ceremony is somber and emotional.

It is a fitting remembrance of the men who, over 50 years ago, gave their lives for their country in the Vietnam War. They were the youth and pride of Bethlehem in the flower of their youth. Now their families have grown grey, their surviving friends now elderly.

Their portraits will be displayed and their names read aloud as the Memorial Bell is rung.

Join us in remembering their sacrifice this Memorial Day starting at noon in front of Bethlehem City Hall.

What: The 3rd Annual Memorial Service for Bethlehem's fallen— the men who died in the service to our country during the Vietnam War.

When: 12:00 Noon, Monday, Memorial Day, May 27, 2024

Where: At 10 E. Church St. outside of Bethlehem City Hall at the Vietnam War Killed-in-Action Memorial.

Doylestown Memorial Day Parade

The Doylestown Memorial Day Parade is conducted annually for the sole purpose of honoring those American Veterans whose sacrifices in defense of our nation and its democratic ideals are responsible for the freedoms we enjoy today. Having celebrated its 155th anniversary in 2023, it is the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States.

Last year, approximately 1,700 people participated in the parade, representing over 100 separate units, including eight local school bands, with an estimated 15,000 spectators looking on.

After a flag raising at War Memorial Field, the parade begins at Central Bucks West High School, moves east on West Court Street, then east on West State Street, north on Main Street, and finally east on East Court Street to Doylestown Cemetery, where it culminates with a 30-minute memorial service, during which the United Veterans of Doylestown place wreaths to honor our fallen heroes.

If your organization is interested in participating in the Parade, you will find an Entry Registration Form and Parade Rules and Guidelines here: 2024 Memorial Day Parade Packet.
