Something special was brewing in the Bayou City.You can see it in some of these photos from the Summit taken 30 years ago this month. It was a time when "Clutch City" took off here. Of course we had to go through "Choke City" before that when the Rockets dropped two home games against the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference semifinals (a Houston Chronicle headline bearing those words kinda helped, too).

The first year of the Texas Education Agency'stakeover of Houston ISDhas been mired in protests, walkouts and outcry due to staff turnover, controversial systemic reforms and more. The Chroniclepublished a surveyon May 16 asking Houston ISD parents, teachers and community members about their thoughts on the state takeover as the district wraps up its first year under TEA control.In one question, the Chronicle asked if the respondents' view of the district has improved, stayed the same or worsened in the last year. As of May 31, over 550 people have responded to the callout; 13 respondents said their view stayed the same, 11 said their view has improved and 528 respondents said their view of HISD has worsened.Here's a look at responses to the survey.

Former NFL player and Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward is selling his modern Houston-area home for $2.1 million. Ward, who played his entire career for the Pittsburgh Steelers, from 1998 to 2011, recently listed his family’s 5,577-square-foot home at 19114 Caney Creek Mills Lane in Cypress.
