Traders Village
While not exactly in Dallas, Traders Village is too epic to leave off this list. It’s just a 20-minute drive from downtown Dallas to Traders Village in Grand Prairie, the largest weekend flea market in Texas. This 160-acre (64.7-hectare) outdoor flea market has over 3,500 dealers that sell everything from music to clothes, mattresses, tires, and even bulldozers. Opened in 1973, Traders Village has grown to include over 15 amusem*nt rides and activities, along with a wide selection of food stalls. While it’s free to explore Traders Village, the rides and parking cost fees.
Genesis Benefit Thrift Store
Genesis Women’s Shelter in Dallas does a lot for women who are trying to get away from domestic violence. To fund their programs and shelter, they have the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store which sells gently-used clothes, toys, and home items. All the proceeds at Genesis Benefit Thrift Store go toward helping women (and often their children) break free of domestic violence. That living room chair or pair of jeans you find at this thrift store is so worth the purchase.
Garibaldi Bazaar
For those who like indoor flea markets, Garibaldi Bazaar might be for you. It offers 250 booths with discounted items for sale, the likes of which range from car parts to haircuts and insurance. There’s a distinct Hispanic atmosphere seen among the food selection, items for sale like pinatas and quinceanera dresses, as well as special musical acts like Tejano bands.
Out of the Closet – Dallas
Thrifting for a cause feels good and you can do just that in Dallas. Out of the Closet is a thrift store that donates 96 cents of every dollar spent at their store to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s HIV/AIDS programs. So, for every dollar you spend on furniture, books, toys, or clothes at Out of the Closet, you’re doing something good. Plus, they offer free HIV testing and a pharmacy in store which is just too convenient not to use.
Harry Hines Bazaar
Harry Hines Bazaar is located on the famous boulevard in Dallas and is a local flea market with a Mexican edge. Customers are guaranteed to come here and fall in love with items that they never knew existed. You can find anything from cowboy boots to furniture, all with a low price tag, making the bargain even more tempting! Beware though, this one attracts some serious crowds, so try to get in early.
